research into genre (similar films)

when looking into storylines of films in this genre , and upon trying to find ones similar to ours , it became apparent that it is very hard to find one similar to ours, not just because our story is slightly strange and unique , i also found that storylines are very rare to be along the same lines , this is because films in this genre need to continue to shock audiences and surprise people as to not lose audiences who grow tired of the same storylines , however you can pick out some characteristics of storylines that link many of them together , for example the storylines are usually centred around one main character , and the storyline usually takes a long time to unravel , and the storyline usually has a major plot twist involved , and it usually culminates in the main characters death.
